February 5, 2008 - The Onondaga Historical Association Museum & Research Center (OHA) Board of Directors today announced the appointment of Gregg A. Tripoli as Executive Director of OHA, effectively immediately.

Mr. Tripoli is an accomplished executive with extensive international experience in a broad range of business affairs. For twenty years, he has advised and represented large multinational corporations owned by a leading merchant family of Kuwait . He has served as project manager with total project responsibility in Italy , San Marino , Egypt , United Kingdom , West Indies , Canada , Brazil and the United States (including New York , New Jersey , California and Colorado).

Mr. Tripoli has extensive experience in property management, real estate development, lease negotiations, corporate restructuring and streamlining, human resources, business development, risk management, and strategic planning. His demonstrated management skills will complement the OHA staff's well-recognized knowledge of local and state history and their experience in the museum and archives field.

A native of Liverpool , NY , Mr. Tripoli is a graduate of Hamilton College (B.A., English and History) and holds an M.B.A. from Katz Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburgh , Pittsburgh , PA.

The board of directors would like to acknowledge the service of Thomas Hunter as interim executive director from June 2006 to the present date. Mr. Hunter will continue to serve OHA as Assistant Executive Director and Curator of Collections.

OHA's mission is to inspire people's understanding that the history we share as a community is the foundation for our future together. OHA operates a public Museum and Research Center in downtown Syracuse 's Montgomery Street – Columbus Circle Historic District.

OHA Museum & R.C. Announces New Director of Development

Adrienne Quirk has joined the OHA Museum & Research Center as Director of Development. Previously, Adrienne worked at Hospice of Central New York for 6 years, most recently serving as the Assistant Development Director.  She is a board member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Central New York Chapter.  She also serves on the Public Relations Committee for The Women's Fund of Central New York.  Adrienne was born and raised in Camillus, NY, and graduated from SUNY Albany with a BA in English minor in Sociology.

OHA is very pleased that Adrienne has joined its staff. We look forward to seeing the fruit of her labor very soon!

Mission Statement

Onondaga Historical Association Museum & Research Center exists to inspire people's understanding that the history we share as a community is the foundation for our future together. Our purpose is to encourage a diverse audience from the neighborhoods of Syracuse and the communities of Onondaga County to explore, appreciate and utilize their past. To do so, we offer engaging exhibits and programs, pursue partnerships with other cultural organizations and community groups, and develop and care for a definitive collection related to local history. We operate a museum and research center in Syracuse, New York and are committed to ensuring the vitality of our historic urban location.

OHAM&RC's Core Beliefs inform all decisions and actions of our organization as we advance our Mission and pursue our Vision for the future.

  • COMMUNITY: History is a cumulative process made up of the individual and collective decisions of people in their neighborhoods, cities and towns, states and the nation. Step-by-step, as choices are made, every local citizen shares in forging our communal identity. Our ongoing collaborat ions within the community facilitate dialogue about things that matter most to people.
